Luke 23:39-43 KJV
41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
In this scripture, we find the perfect example and response to a person asking for forgiveness. Jesus Christ was responding to one of thieves hanged for admitted crimes, next to our Saviour—who did no wrong.
Christ’s response embodied His earlier words to His followers in Luke 6:37: “Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:”
His words still speak to hearts these three things to remember should we find ourselves being asked for forgiveness. What three things? (1) Don’t judge (2) Don’t condemn (3) Simply forgive.
What a example—in fact, The Perfect Example—in forgiveness!
